How To Play The Fantasy Premier League

Boring? Or always on your phone? FPL-it.

This article will discuss How to Play Fantasy Premier League:

How-to

Choose two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders, and three strikers. In each of the season’s 38 Gameweeks, you’ll select 11 players to start, with the other four on the bench (unless one or more starters don’t play).

Formation: Flexible beginning formation (3-5 defenders, 2-5 midfielders, 1-3 forwards). 3-4-3 is most common, however any defensive formation can work, including ‘large at the back’

Outfielders are paid for goals and assists, defenders and goalkeepers (and midfielders to a lesser extent) for cleansheets, and goalkeepers for saves. For a goal, forwards earn four, midfielders five, defenders six, and everyone three. Players can win up to three more points with Additional Points (BPS).

Choose a captain and vice-captain weekly (VC). Your captain can make or break a Gameweek with double points. Stay with great players like Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Bruno Fernandes, and Kevin De Bruyne. If the fixture and form are good, a less-elite player may be a good option.

If possible, avoid scheduling your captain and VC in the same Covid-19 game.

Each Gameweek you get one free transfer. Two FTs accumulate. Each additional FT costs four points (called “taking a hit”).

Also available are two Wildcards, a Bench Boost, a Free Hit, and a Triple Captain chip. Each Gameweek enables one. Be careful with these pricey chips. Chip use boosts points and rank.

Wildcards let you re-design your squad (within budget), making them valuable. Your first Wildcard is only good for half the season. Gameweeks 3-7 are a popular time for managers to use their first Wildcard. Strong teams may wait until midseason for changes.

Second Wildcards prevent duplicate and blank Gameweeks.

When you use Bench Boost, all 15 of your players will be active and contribute to your points total. Use it when your whole squad is fit, expected to start, and has a good fixture (or preferably two fixtures). Managers add DGW games with this.

Free Hit: A one-Gameweek Wildcard. These aid in DGW and BGW navigation. In a Gameweek with five matches (10 teams), target the best players.

Triple Captain doubles your captain’s weekly points. Triple Captain is usually used in DGW. Duffy-dud 18/19, Sane-gate 18/19, Mane-gate 19/20. DGWs provide a larger sample and reduce variation, like Bench Boost (luck).

Your team’s season score decides its overall rank. Last season, there were approximately 8 million teams, and 2 to 4 million stayed active. Top 100k is a solid season, top 10k is great, and top 1k is great for experienced managers.

Most of us play in micro leagues (MLs) against friends and relatives. MLs might be public or private. Administrators give private leagues codes. Small-group competitions for status, bragging rights, and rewards are fun.
